That used to be true but there are numbers of converters that do devote up to 80 amps towards charging the battery bank. For one example of many see the Progressive Dynamics units.

I wanted a high quality portable charger that was truly hands off. CTEK is the only charger that I found that could do that. Most all of the commercial chargers I looked at have fatal flaws of overcharging or float voltage that is so low that it could not overcome simple battery aging issues. Battery chemistry hasn’t change much in years, but the charging has.
My trailer has a high power disconnect that I plan on using during charging with the CTEK. Just open the switch and charge with the generator.
