That used to be true but there are numbers of converters that do devote up to 80 amps towards charging the battery bank. For one example of many see the Progressive Dynamics units.MM49 wrote:

My trailer has a high power disconnect that I plan on using during charging with the CTEK. Just open the switch and charge with the generator.
