How did the Firman work after you repaired the fuel valve issue?
I see there is no reply to your posting. If it was me, I would have removed the fuel petcock, took it apart, retapped the hole and replaced the screw. The petcock seals with an 'o' ring and the stamped metal outer cover provides the sealing force as well as the turning resistance. Easy fix actually. And if the unit runs well, why not repair it and continue on instead of returning it and then bashing it.
Just like and mechanical thing (your vehicle included), things fail or were assembled incorrectly and fail. I don't see it as a terminal issue, just a quick fix.
Just me I guess.
It seems to me that the OP returned the unit and got his money back. Yes, one could fix this particular issue but what is next?
I have had a Honda EU1000 for over 10 years now and have not had one issue with it. A close friend of mine bought a Kipor a few years after I bought the Honda and also experienced a gas soaked engine while we were camping on a cold, wet weekend. As always, my little Honda ran all weekend without issue.
Was the Honda cheap? Certainly not. But the ongoing reliability makes it worth every penny to me.
Not just you. Roger on the Honda generators. Bought two of them 12 years ago for my TC and still have them. Love how quiet they are. Nothing like those deafening Chinese $300.00 units. The've run everything from my household appliances during power outages to sheet metal roll forming machines at work. One even fell off the back of my PU. Ordered new plastic housing, still runs like a champ.
