So I waited before taking the plunge and hopefully it's "Do it right the first time". Which of course is unlikely to happen.
Not likely to happen unless you do it fast. When Don told me 2 years ago about Rogue 30 being the best MPPT for a "small" system, I couldn't quite wrap my mind around 500W called "small". But he was right on both points, and 500W today IS small. I haven't finished yet all the details, but already thinking of expanding, with more loads in mind.
When I read that post by BFL again - thanks God the (tedious) discussion of PWM vs MPPT didn't pick up this time - he didn't mean to compare anything. You asked whether 40-45A is reasonable to expect with 750W array, and BFL provided the answer based on 130W panel.
As to Ecoworthy "closing the gap", it can only handle one 24V panel, and yet costs several times more than some "ebay special" PWM. This can be compared to closing the "gap" between two sides of river with a rope. You can grab the rope and get to the other side but without your horses and cargo. A proper bridge is better, but then again it takes time and money to build. Ops - looks like I am starting discussion now. Didn't mean to. Read up more, CA. There is no universal recipe for everybody.
