hadn't thought about a problem with the unit and having to send it in for repair. along the lines of the install question is this something I can remove if need be and once the unit is removed how hard is it to jumper the electric so the MH still has power?

The display isn't bright but the bedroom might not be a good location. So much better to be able to see the display inside rather than to go outside and especially when using 30A power and the more likely low voltage. My remote is in a cabinet.

Sounds like you could install it depending upon what you have to do. Mine is installed w/o cutting any wires so the original wiring could be easily restored.

If it fails PI may just send you the parts. Unlike SG their unit has field replacable parts.
