There are a number of companies making these fuel cells that work with various fuels. Many of them are working on targeting the home market with units that can produce 3-5kW to replace or supplement power obtained from the grid. Some also produce hot water and hydrogen. You can use the hot water in your home and sometime in the future, use the hydrogen for your new car. They're starting to be big in Japan when a 5kW home unit goes for about $30,000. It looks like they're starting to gain a foothold in Europe as well. Some here in the US are calling for better/bigger Federal Tax Credits to make them more available here. Right now the Tax Credit is for 30% of the total cost but limited to $1,000 per kW.
