A pound of propane contains a bit over 21000 btu's, so a 30k btu furnace will go through a bit over a pound per hour if it runs full blast.
One thing to keep in mind- Suburban designs their furnaces to have a temperature rise (tr) of around 90 degrees- plus or minus 10-20 degrees. If you measure the return air and the supply air at the closest outlet you can diagnose a lot- a tr of 120 or over means restricted air flow or recirculation, a rise well under that points to other problems- low LP pressure, dirty burner/furnace.
If the TR is where it should be, either too much of the heat is leaking out of the ducting, or the furnace is simply not large enough.
At that rate, using a 30# tank in 5-10 days in cool/coldish weather seems reasonable where the furnace doesn't run full blast all the while. I'll have to take a closer look at it and the duct-work. Thanks for the procedure.

We've gone through a 30lb tank in 3-4 days when its below freezing at night and in the 40's during the day.
