Propane regulator

I have a 2012 Everlite travel trailer and have had two propane regulators go bad. Does anyone make a quality regulator? Are any made in the US?

Thank you.

  • I filled two propane tanks at a gas station in a very small town several years ago. Both regulators on the RV, and the regulator on the camp stove stopped functioning within a few minutes of operation. My friend filled up at the same place at the same time, and his regulator failed also. Bottom line, the propane we purchased was badly contaminated. I don't know what it was contaminated with. We contacted the gas station and they said several folks had complained in a 48 hour period. They also paid for our complete system to be checked and the regulators to be replaced.
  • How are you determining that the regulator failed? You didn't explain what the failure was so that leaves everyone to speculate.

I don't think even the brand name regulators are made in the US anymore.

You can learn how to make a manometer on the web.

This past fall, I made a U tube manometer to measure my gas pressure. Didn't take 20 minutes. My 2001 mdl 5thW was regulating perfectly at 11" WC, while my 2005 mdl TC was at 9" WC. It wouldn't adjust up to 11" so replaced it.

The new regulator would only maintain 10" with 1 stove eye lit, so took it back and got another which worked great, maintaining almost 11" WC with 3 eyes lit and the generator running. I've had no more issues.

So, it's unusual to have 2 go bad but it can happen.

Let us know what the outcome is.

I'm curious, how do you purge the bottles of possible water?
  • Or he got a wet load of propane and it's freezing in the regulator, the water.
  • Seems odd. Call Marshal with model number and ask if they had a bad run of them. Something doesn't seem right.
  • Have you made sure that all the lines have been purged of any oil or water.
  • Regulators can shut the propane off if you open the valve to quick as it will assume that there is a serious leak. Ease the valve open instead of twisting it fast. If the regulator shuts the propane, the regulator will reset itself eventually
  • Are you using a marshall? Are you absolutly sure its not your bottles are not properly purged?
  • WOW. I have never had to replace a regulator in over 55 years of owning RVs of all types. Sorry, cannot help you
