Propane Tank Question

First post ever on this site. I have a 2018 Winnebago View with the Mercedes Sprinter Chassis. I was looking at my propane tank to sort our how to install a splitter to support a low pressure propane line for our grill and our propane campfire. I noticed that there is this little black gizmo with two wires going out of it right were the propane line exit the tank. What caught my attention was that it was so hot that I could not even touch it after my RV sat for a day. I turned the coach batteries off and the device (Whatever it is) cooled down. What is this component? What does it do? Thank you in advance!

    It is the electric controlled shut off valve for the tank. Because of the in-accessible location of the tank (as far as manually closing a normal shut off valve) the electric one was required to meet safety requirements.

    You can reduce the electrical load considerably by installing magnets on the valve. If you have not, join the View/Navion forum on Yahoo, as Len on there can tell you exactly how to do this.

    That valve is controlled thru the propane detector also, but I think you have a switch either at the fill point or inside or both also. I am not familiar with the setup of the new Views. Mine is an old one with a manual valve.
