Propane winterizing

Personally I leave mine in the 5er. The only thing I worry about is theft of them. My 5er is in a storage yard. I've had trailers over the last 41 years and the bottles have always stayed on or in the trailers.

"Which is better" I would leave them installed/connected, but I would have them filled first, so ready to go in Spring.

I leave mine in the fiver, I just disconnect the line and use the cap like shown in the link above....

Just exactly why would anyone think that ANY special attention is needed for propane tanks during periods of non-use ?? (regardless of the length of time).

Hint: There is NO good reason to mess with them at all. Turn off the valve at the tanks and don't mess with anything else.

Leave them full connected and the batteries charged just in case one might need an extra heat source in an emergency

Have never heard of winterizing the propane so I haven't in 40 years. No problems that I know of.

Leave then in place connected. Can't freeze. No problems. Just turn off incase of a leak.

In all the years of dealing with travel trailers, ever since I was an 8 year old kid and my parents got a TT, never removed the propane tanks.

On the other hand, my mother had a 20 pound propane tank in the basement of her house off an old BBQ grill. It was half full/empty. I wanted another tank to use for a Coleman gas stove. She gave it to me. After all those years, it worked perfectly fine.

When it finally ran out of propane, I ended up trading it at a swap-em out gas station and that's how I got the newer one with the triangle knob, instead of the old style rounded knob.

Actually, to store them inside, or keep them on the camper exposed to the elements over the winter months, I don't think it matters one way or the other. It's really all about your own comfort level and potential theft than anything else. But for the life of the tank, I don't think it matters.
