Hence my asking questions of you folks. Long time ago I figured out it is much better to know where to find an expert than pretend I am one.
From the Tracer 4210AN manual: #6 awg in/out wiring and....
"The MPPT controller has the function of current/power-limiting, that is, during the charging process, when the charging current or power exceeds the rated charging current or power, the controller will automatically limit the charging current or power to the rated charging current or power, which can effectively protect the charging parts of the controller, and prevent damages to the controller due to the connection of some over-specification PV modules."
I had read some documentation earlier while researching this product(haven't found the source again)that the current/power limiting function would be able to handle a PV input of up to @ 3kw and wrangle it back down to 1040. To the extent this is true the unit is probably robust enough to deal with whatever issues arise with my setup. But I could be wrong.
