Bull he stated the 50 amp outlet would be a 4 wire feed, SO he has already considered that and done the right thing
L-1, L-2 (120 volts each with respect to neutral) Neutral and Safety ground are the 4 wires.. He is doing it properly at least there.
As for the O/P's questions however,,, I'm fairly good with electrical stuff, but this is one level past what I'm comfortable with. I will only give this advice,, GO BIGGER, do not put in the minimum size but go at least one size bigger, makes the wires easier to pull, epically if "Stuff" happens.
