Quiet generators

The Hyundai is good, my buddy is happy with his. I would be concerned with parts and service though. It is likely a rebadged Honda clone hence the lower price and support could be sketchy. As with most things in life we get what we pay for.

Most of the newer inverter generators are really quiet.

The days when honda was night and day better have passed. Still top of the line quality but the difference has shrunk dramatically.

Most will give you a decibel rating. You can check that but understand, that rating is typically at idle or 1/4 output. When running flat out, all of them (including Honda) make a lot more noise.

what size is it, is it an inverter generator and how much? i haven't seen hardly any Hyundai generator owners on RV forums.

I have been camping at Talladega for the past 6 days right next to a Honda EU3000iS. You literally have to almost go touch it to even know it is running. I am camping outside the track where it is quiet so this generator is amazingly silent.

Hnnnnnn, I wonder how many folks would know he difference if you put a Honda decal on a Predator. ;)

Not many, I'd guess. I don't use a portable, but I've heard (or not) Predator generators demonstrated, and they're very quiet, in my opinion.

consider cost, weight and wattage.

New honda is now a 2200 watt generator...no longer a 2000 watt.

I have had 6 Honda generators over the years and sold 5 for various reasons. I cannot believe the money people will pay for a used Honda and how quick they sell! So to my way of thinking Hondas are cheaper!

I was told parts are expensive, but never bought any so do not know? Except for a pull cord and that was generic.

Let a Honda EV4010 go with an RV I sold, what a mistake!!

Only have run it on propane so far but it seems quiet and runs really well. I have not tried to see if it will fire up the A/c Unit on my TT but I am happy with the purchase...

I can buy two of these for the price of one Honda and do not have to purchase a separate LPG kit.

The Honda 3000 (had one for 15 years, sold it--too big for the MH we got) is very quiet with a low pitch that is easy on the ears. IMO a gen noise is not just about whether you can hear it, but how hard it is on the ears.

IMO a Honda 2000w is not in the same category as a 3000. You can hear it.

The MH we have came with a Hyundai 2000w that ran, but the inverter was toast as it turned out. The engine was very loud and at a high pitch that was hard to bear. That may have been due to the inverter being broken, don't know.

Ended up with a Briggs & Stratton P2200 that was on sale at 60% of regular price. It is not very loud at all, and has a lower sort of pitch that is not hard on the ears. I have no side by side comparison with a Honda 2200 to go by.

I really like the P2200, but wish it had a fuel gauge. I liked having one on the Honda 3000 we had.

The P2200 runs at 1700VA, as confirmed by Kill-A-Watt while it runs the non-PF corrected 75 amp converter/charger at 75 amps. This gets the overload warning light flashing, but it still runs for as long as it takes until amps taper to 68 amps, when that overload light stops flashing and turns green. I do that with it every time, and it is fine after a year so far, so I can recommend it as being reliable.

The P2200 has a bigger engine like the Honda 2200 compared with the 2000s. I would be suspicious of any 2200 that has only an 80. You want that extra for when running at max like I do with mine.
