rack pinion steering? i was told it has a crack?

noticed i was leaking fluid underneath the front of the truck onthe drivers side....by weeks end the truck made a straining sound when turning right or left. After taking it to the mechanic...knowing...

Did they say where the crack was? If you need a rack and pinion replacement, it's not going to be cheap. I looked up the labor hours and it's 15-16 hours for a 2010 Tundra. The company I work for charges $70.00 an hour.

The noise/vibration you heard or felt is either a low fluid level or air in the power steering hydraulic system. Good luck.
