I fly both airplane's and heli's. My current favorite is a Fliton Extra 330 (see photo below). I am fortunate to live close to a truly outstanding field called Santa Clara County Model Aircraft Skypark (SCCMAS). If you ever make to out to Northern California, this is a great place to fly. Visitors can use the field free for one day with proof of current AMA membership… and there are even RV hookups (power & water) in the parking lot :)
I spend a lot of time in the northern Nevada high dessert and I always bring an airplane or two with me. It's amazing to be able to fly in a wide open space with nobody else around for miles and miles (and miles!). I've also made several trips to Lake Casitas which is located near Ventura, CA. It's a beautiful place to camp and fly! They have a well maintained RC field that's operated by the Ventura County Comets and you can fly off of a paved runway or even off of the lake if you have floats.
