Radio Interference

I have an aftermarket radio that was already installed in my LQ horse trailer. it is a furion. The problem I am having is when the radio is on and I turn on the overhead lights in the trailer the volume of the radio is reduced significantly. The radio is installed in a panel above the couch so I took the panel off to expose the backside of the radio. I never saw the quantity of electrical wires this thing has.
Anyone have an idea what may be causing the reduced volume issue?
  • bought this trailer from dealer who sells both new and used trailers and different brands. They are competent. converter is 8955AN WFCO
  • problem seems to be intermitten. i had it at another service location to change out the awning and they said they could not duplicate the problem
  • I hardly ever listen to AM so FM is the problem for me
  • i give up. this site cannot take the traffic this evening

If you do not have LED lighting (As someone up-thread said LEDs can cause radio interference) hang a digital volt meter on the radio's power lead within six inches of the radio if you can (IF there is an inline fuse you can tap in there and not have to cut or pierce wire A single strand of stranded wire is enough to feed the meter)

    I'm suspecting voltage loss

LED interference ususally comes in as NOISE.. not volume loss. Though some of my radios might present as volume loss. but they have industrial strength noise limiter circuits which are not normally present in car radios today.

Thanks for another potential cause, other than LED. I have a spare AGM battery and may use it as a power source for a few day's to isolate the radio from the normal power source to see if the volume loss shows up.
