Radio messgae / error code?

I have made several attempts to access the Sirius mode on my dash radio but keep getting an "EEP INIT" message and consequently it won't allow me to proceed into the setup process, what is it trying to tell me?

My Magnadyne model M9900CDS came as "Standard" equipment on my 2006 Winn Tour (I'm second owner)and states on the radio it's "Sirius ready." When it comes as standard equipment and says it's Sirius ready shouldn't it work? The rest of the radio works.
  • I disagree. If the coach is Sirus ready, it's Sirus ready, not that it requires additional equipment. That's how ours came, the OP's is the same vintage.

OP: The radio is mounted up against the firewall under the dash, and it's a PITA to get to! LIKELY, the DIN cable between the radio and the Sirius head has come unplugged. If you're not a contortionist to get under the dash and get your arms cut up with the slitwrap, climb up on the roof and look for the antenna. It will be on the front cap, or right behind it, on the left side. The antenna is ~2"x2", sitting on a metal plate sitting in a pool of sealant.Getting to the rear of the radio is easier, but when mine had this problem it was on the sat head.

As I said above, if you really want satellite radio, the Magnadyne is a lousy choice in general, and a lousy sat receiver..

    UPDATE:

The tech for the radio emailed me saying the unit needs a receiver plugged into the back of it and a Sirius antenna.

Ready means "squat"! A better term might have been "capable".

EXACTLY what I told you back in my first post.

I had to reset mine and register again when I got my truck from FORD that had the Sirius Radio ... The Sirius XM Radio ID Control numbers was on my main information screen and in the manual... You will have to have both numbers to register...

I was also just looking up the error code on GOOGLE and they mentioned it may need to be reset if 12VDC Power has been disrupted. You might try the RESET procedure found in the manual or go on-line and read the manual for the radio...

I suspect you will have to register again and create a new SIRIUS XM ACCOUNT since it no longer belongs to the original owner's name... My cost is around $24 month for both the Sirius Radio Service and the GPS TRAVEL LINK plan... I use the road maps more than I do the radio service haha...

  • Ready simply means you have to buy and install the sat radio equipment. Your "ready" radio then controls all functions.
  • "Standard" and "Ready" doesn't mean its activated.. Is it?

BTW- I have the same radio and its underwhelming. So if you're going to light up Sirius for the coach, I think I would replace the equipment first.
