I have no inside knowledge here, but I assume that seals are included that will contain the gas. I believe the word was "burner housing" rather than "shield."
I agree with puddles, it seems they are limiting their liability by reducing the chance of a fire but are not fixing the problem which is a weak tube that cracks! Why don't they fix the problem by replacing the weak tube??
