I agree and also recommend the Progressive Industries units, either hard wired or portable. They are a little more expensive than the Surge Guard units, but they are worth the extra money. I have two of them and couldn't be more pleased. They have excellent customer service also.
I must tell you, I do not recommend the Surge Guard products primarliy because of poor customer service. On my only order from them the product didn't work (30 amp portable unit). I'll spare you the blow-by-blow details, but it took many, many phone calls and many weeks to get them to reluctanly replace the unit. Even then, the problem had to be "escalated" to higher levels within their company. They finally did replace the unit and apologized for the way I was treated by their "customer service" personnel, but I really shouldn't have had to go through all that to get them to honor their warranty.
