Recommend a good FREEZER temperature alarm ?

We bought a new chest freezer for our garage and would like to know when the temperature rises to about 15 degrees +/-

A search shown many alarms, but have weak sounding alarms. Is there one that sends a signal from the garage....to inside the house ?

Is there one that will dial our land line phone (under $$100) ?

Many thanks

  • Thanks Doug.....we bought the AccuRite 00986A2. Not yet installed.
  • Ya I started out with alkaline in all three units and found that they didn't last long. Put Lithium in the fridge and freezer unit took care of the problem.

I've used this one in the RV, but some people use them for their homes. If you're using it in the RV double check the transmitting frequency to make sure it doesn't interfere with a TPMS. I've had good success with it but it doesn't call your cell.

+ 1 for Doug's post. I use this in the trailer with no problems, tested it out in the house this winter first.

    $30.00 from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QJVU78?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

Just bought this, be sure to use alkaline and not rechargeable and use lithium for the freezer sensor. The rechargeable did not seem to work well but the store bought batteries did.

  • I mount the thermocouple on the roof of the freezer compartment about an inch and a half inboard of the door. If you have an obnoxious enough alarm a xxxx-ed off neighbor will chase you down and roar. Better security than any system tied to a cell phone.
