On the element when checking continuity, generally the 110v heater will show approx 44 ohms +/- 10%, 12v heater will be 0.6 +/-10%.
As you noted no polarity on the 110v heater but there is on the 12v heater.
Need to check output at the board for the heater, or fuse, since not cycling. Fuses are cheap-good to have spares and can fail and still 'look' good.
Can you manually switch at board?-you mentioned auto. Oh just to clarify, fuse to check is on the controller board itself (power module) back of refer-
