I am looking at a water pressure regulator that is factory preset 40-50 psi.Does this sound like a good choice.

Yes but get one that says "Full Flow" on it, such as the one made by Valtera (avail. at CW).
That way you won't have low volume if you have more than one faucet on or a faucet and shower at the same time.
There are more expensive options but they aren't necessary because the high flow part will give you all the volume you will ever need and you will never have pressure problems.
