Now, do I get a Morningstar for several bucks more, or wait possibly almost 2 months to get the LandStar from China?
I vote for not waiting; however, I am going to be out of commission for a while...
Are there any chargers (simple ones, for my simple 1-panel setup) that are made in the U.S.A.? I like the ones that show the state of charge of the battery. I need visual aids.
Finding something that is not made in China is next to impossible, these days. I know of only one US made controller, MPPT Rogue. Apples to apples it is cheaper than Morningstar but probably out of your price range.
You might consider Steka Solsum 8A or 6A, Germany.
Solar Blvd have them from $30. Don't know if they outsource it to China or the "colonies" ;) but normally Germans make their own products themselves. There is 8A and 8.8A model, don't know the difference. I think the setpoint Abs =14.4V as in most others. Check the manual. For "visual aids" you will have to rely on red/yellow/green LED lights. Display is not a common feature on small PWM controllers, you would have to pay more for a unit with a display. You don't need more than 10A for a 100W panel, and 8-8.8A should suffice.
