"This does not sound like an "apples to apples" or at least it is no reason to condemn the Renogy ! It sounds like it would have gotten the job done in the about the same amount of time.
Also remember the Renogy goes through multiple "stages"."
The question was why battery voltage was only 12.8v (up from 12.2 before starting) Answer was low charging amps wrt bank size. And the low charging voltage meaning not much "spike" on connecting the charger.
The Renogy could not do it in the same time with 20 amps vs 55 amps.
Yes, the chosen Renogy charging profile has a drop to 13.x after a time at 14.7 Vabs, but the time to get to Vabs is determined by the battery bank. (varies with battery type too)
I have no complaints with my Renogy. I just need to improve the installation to get less voltage drop to the input. Test showed that, so worth doing for my case. If it was no use for anybody else's case, that is unfortunate, but I did post it thinking it would be useful to others too. Oh well.
