If you charge the house battery from the alternator... connect to the chassis starting battery not direct to the alternator. Assuming both batteries use the frame ground all you need to connect is the positive terminals.
Blowing up the computer would involve connecting the cables in reverse polarity. Even then the chance is low.
Unless your needs change the Honda/Yamaha/Subaru/Kipor/Champion inverter generators will serve you well and probably out last this and the next RV.
