Replacing an air conditioner compressor

It looks like my rear air conditioner compressor is going out. Drawing way too much current at startup. My question is whether it is economical to replace the compressor or will I wind up buying a new air conditioner?

    Shop online and you can find a new A/C for under $500.00. If you replace the compressor then how will you recharge it when it has no ports to add refrigerant?

    Most say no. Don't repair, replace. Coleman 15000 about $550.
