Replacing Linolium Floor

Hello, I'm new here and did a search but didn't find anything on this topic yet. Hopefully this is the correct sub-forum to ask.

Our grey tank over-flowed and water got under the linoleum in the bathroom, hallway, and bedroom. We can't get the exact same pattern that was originally used when the trailer was build.

Option (A) is to replace just that half of the trailer's flooring, with a threshold at the beginning of the hallway. Basically this would have the look of the original linoleum with a tile-like pattern in the kitchen and living room and a different pattern, probably faux-wood, in the bedroom, bathroom, hall.

Or option (B) would it be better to replace the flooring throughout so it looks continuous through the entire trailer?

This work would be done by a flooring company that works on RVs. Which option would be best for long-term durability and resale value? I'm thinking option (B) but wondered about option (A) if insurance co. isn't willing to pay for the entire floor? I've never done something like this so figured I should reach out and see if anyone has experience with something similar.

Thanks,
Alex

  • I can't speak from direct personal experience, so take this with a grain of salt.

If done nicely, I don't think option A would affect the resale value and probably not the durability of things. The only possible durability concern I can see is with the threshold between the two coming loose, but I must say I haven't seen that generally happen in practice.

I do know that I never even would think when buying a used RV to enquire whether the flooring is of a different configuration than when new. I'd just look at it and see if it made sense and looked presentable. I might prefer to have carpet in the bedroom, but that's just me and my feet on chilly mornings talking.
