How do you run a Residential fridge off the whole house inverter when the inverter didn't power the 2 way Norcold in AC mode. Can I just hook it into the ac feed to the microwave? The inverter feeds that when turned on. Or how to convert the ac plugin behind the fridge to get AC when the inverter is on. That ac plug is hot when plugged into shore power but not hot when inverter is powering the RV.

Unless it a huge micro and already stressing the size of that circuit, that will work fine.

If the inverter didn't work on the 300W draw of the absorption fridge, it's doubtful that it will meet the start up draw of a residential compressor fridge. You may have been referencing the way things are wired and not the "didn't work" aspect of power demand. Yes, you could use the circuit for the microwave. You would have to change the circuit wiring in the load center to operate off the microwave circuit. An alternative is to add a second transfer switch into the load center, this additional transfer switch would power up the refrigerator receptacle's circuit.Finally, using an extension cord to power the fridge may be the easiest solution.

It will run fine off the microwave circuit breaker. Residential fridges don't draw much current except for the first 1/4 second of compressor start.

If you have power to the fridge from inverter you are on your way.
I do hope the Magnum is a sine wave series. Not all motors are great on MSW although some inverters are better than others. Hard to know.

Have figured out how to rewire the outlet to a circuit that has both shore and inverter power. Now to get the FR18 fridge installed. Needs to go through the emergency window over the couch. The window will flip up doesn't need to be removed. And the new Samsung fridge weights less than the old Norcold.

It powers everything except the plug to the Norcold fridge. It's a 2000 W magnum
No icemaker.

If the inverter is connected 'whole house' then it powers everything.
That is what whole house means.

Plug the refrigerator into the outlet the icemaker was plugged into. Test it I bet it passes 110 when plugged in and is hot when on the converter is on.

You don't say what kind of rig you have but check behind the skin panel where the Norcold was plugged in. If the Norcold had an ice maker, there should be an inverter outlet there for the ice maker. Just use it for the RR. At least that was the way it worked in our coach.

Your inverter is not "whole house" but just runs some things off a "sub-panel." You just need to re-arrange what 120v things the inverter will run.

One way is to go "whole house" by plugging the shore power cord into the inverter. Do shut off the converter to prevent that loop business, and put the WH on gas. The regular Norcold will pull maybe 14 amps on inverter, but a res 120v fridge might only want 7 amps.

Whatever, you need to do some power management to get the things you want to run off inverter to run and not the other things.

You don't need a sub-panel to prevent yourself from turning on the air conditioner that the inverter cannot run. Just don't turn on the air conditioner.

if you run fridge off the microwave circuit and the fridge starts up when you are running the microwave it may blow the microwave circuit breaker. you are better off seeing if the fridge outlet can be rewired at the breaker panel to work on the inverter and shore power when plugged in.
