Howdy. It depends on the fridge. The type with DC motors run fine with modified sine wave inverters (Samsung I believe) but my recommendation is to use a true sine wave inverter on any AC motor. There are some on here that run them fine on modified sine wave but the reality (and physics) says they will run better with a sine wave inverter. If you have a legacy modified sine wave inverter type you may as well try it but IN MY OPINION it makes no sense to do a new inverter install without it being a sine wave inverter.
