All though Outback and Morning Star are both top notch I've found the guys at Midnite are way ahead of the rest of the field. They have released a device that does not open a new chapter, it closes the existing book and starts a new one. Go ahead and laugh, they won't mind as they have a sense of humor, this new device is called the
Wizbang Jr.
One of the problems with charging a battery bank with solar is determining when to end the absorb stage. If your running an inverter and drawing 20 or so amps DC the charge controller does not know this. It see's a load greater than it's ending amps and stays in absorb. With this device Midnite's controllers know how many amps are actually being sent to the battery bank and can properly end absorb when the batteries are full.
Another function of this device is determining SOC. All though the Trimeteric is a wonderful device and I plan on keeping mine you no longer need one.
Limiting bulk amps to the batteries but not over all amps. If you have a small battery bank and lots of flat mounted solar so you can still charge on less than optimal days this device will allow you to limit your charge rate on those bright sunny days but not total over all output so you don't boil your batteries at a C2 rate but also don't limit your power output to your loads.
I'm not affiliated with Midnite in any way but have been studying heavily for a few years now and these guys are something else.
