Resealing hatch caulking

I have to reseal areas on several access hatches and ports on my aluminum sided travel trailer (Vertical / horizontal caulking). No leaks yet but being pro-active. I have always been told that you were not to use any silicone product to do this BUT.. this is what my local RV Repair store uses and is recommending I use. It is made by BOSS products.. (Boss 378) Any comments or opinions before I start on this project?
  • I would not. Dicor or Proflex are the accepted options. I have tried Proflex and hated working with it. So Im only using Dicor now.
  • Dicor and a bowl of soapy water. If you dip your finger in the water and use it to smooth the joint you'll get better results.
  • Before using your caulk leave the tube in the sun or heat with a heat gun.
  • i use silicone all the time.

Obviously not on the rubber roof though.

Me and some of you guys are not going to live long enough to see the quality silicone deteriorate. :h

Silicon on the exterior will peel right off.
