resetting the computer

Question

Hi,I recently moved from 225/75R16 to 235/85R16.I went to Ford to have them reset the computer in my E-450. They can't seem to make the change. Anyone here know if there is a way to "over ride" the settings to allow them to do this?

Can you enter it as a gearing change of ratio? Hmm no that would not work. Jim

Hi Jim,They wanted to do it as a change of tire size--and the software would not allow them to register the change. (The land of greyed out?)

Yes tire size is the right way. Not sure why it would be locked  out. Ford can tell them though.Jim

Can they reprogram the GEM module? For some ford trucks with ABS this is where you need to change it. For some it is the ABS module itself. Apparently it is greyed out when you need to program it in a different module.

Take it to the used car department. They'll hypnotize the ECU into bleating like a goat and believing it is six months old...
