Resi fridges in more and more units
I'm seeing more units without propane ability for the fridge. If an inverter is also supplied by the manufacturer to only run the fridge does it stay powered enough from the tow vehicle on long runs...

Okay, that makes more sense. Another poster was talking about 17 cu ft or something like that and I couldn't imagine it being that low.
I've replaced quite a few non-boondocking units with that size from Lowes. Nice units under $300 and do an excellent job of cooling, but only ran then on 110v
It wouldn't surprise me if many of them are. I suspect many residential fridges share the same few compressor designs, and larger ones (and/or more poorly insulated ones) just run longer, but don't really consume more power while running--at least when not defrosting or making ice.
Modern household refrigerators are remarkably efficient overall. RV absorption fridges are a few times less energy efficient; their big advantage is that the energy source can easily be propane rather than electricity, and propane is much more energy dense than a lead-acid battery.
