Most modern electronic refers don't have an off.There are a couple of exceptions. You have to unplug it. If you hold certain buttons it will only put it in demo mode. In demo mode the compressor wont run but you still have interior lights. not a problem unless you want to keep the doors open.

Typically when one is planning to STORE their RV without power and they are planning to turn off ALL of the appliances it is pretty much a given that ALL perishables are going to be removed from said fridge...

As a habit the very first items we remove are the refridgerated/frozen goods when we get home. We leave NOTHING as far as food and drinks in our TT. We just don't get much of a chance to do short weekends (weekends are rather busy for us) so it makes no sense for us to keep a fridge full of food in the trailer between camping trips...

Not to mention cleaning out all the food (not just fridge)reduces the off chance of those little four footed unwanted "house guests" making themselves at home :M .

A battery disconnect will NOT kill power to the Inverter. If you have an Inverter that is killed by a battery disconnect, then the Inverter is not wired correctly. The INVERTER being ON is required for the refer to run with no shore power. Just make sure the Inverter is OFF. OR, read the refer operators manual to find out how to turn the refer OFF. Doug

My residential fridge only gets 4 full weeks on average of usage through the summer. I do not run it in between uses and it spends all winter turned off.

Since there is often not much exposed like motor shafts and fans to the weather you have very little to be concerned about.

NOT running and ON and Off will not cause any problems. BTW, MOST people do not realize that the residential's do NOT turn off and stay OFF when power is disconnected and reconnected. ANY time the 120 power is applied to the refer/RV, it will come on. To completely turn the refer OFF so it does NOT come on the next time you apply 120 power, you must read the Refer owners manual and it will tell you how to hold certain buttons down for up to 10 seconds to completely keep the refer OFF. Some people might not like the refer to always come ON when 120 power is applied. Doug

None! Just leave the door(s) cracked open so everything can dry out while not being used and then fire it up again when you are ready to go. It will take a little while to cool down, but it cools down faster then the RV fridges.
