Both my Trimetric and another voltmeter I use some distance from the batteries read a bit high. AFAIK it is due to voltage drop on the long wires between the meters and the batteries they go to.
Perhaps I have that all wrong? The example they give in the ASC solar controller manual for voltage drop (they want under 1/4 volt between battery and controller so the battery will not be undercharged by the controller thinking the battery has reached high set-point voltage when it has not yet reached that)
Battery terminals- 13.65v
ASC battery connection- 13.95v -- 0.30v diff too large. Decrease voltage drop
