Seems to me the set-point is set in the controller and that it will activate when it "sees" that voltage from the battery.
So if you have a known 0.1v drop and you want 14.6 at the battery before the controller starts controlling then set the controller at 14.7. No?
If you're using the battery sense wires and you want a 14.6 setpoint, you set it for 14.6v. If you're not using the sense wires, then youc an compensate for voltage drop at higher currents by increasing the setpoints a little.
On the 3048, the setpoint precision and the display precision are two different things, because the voltage is measured separately for each of them. The VTRIM setpoint fine-tunes the setpoint precision; the display precision can't be fine-tuned. If you have VTRIM adjusted so that the controller is regulating to setpoints properly, and the display is off a little, then it's just the display that's off...not the voltage regulation. The display really shouldn't be off by much, though. I originally had planned to add a user adjustment so they could fine-tune the accuracy of the display too, but found that it wasn't really necessary.
I think removing the display with all the buttons would lower the price by what Rogue remote monitor costs, about $100 as I recall.
Eliminating just the display, pushbuttons, and their circuit board wouldn't drop the price by $100. The MPT-2024 is $100 less because it also lacks the huge heatsink and larger, more complex enclosure. AND because I make a whole lot less on it, too! The 2024 also is limited to 20A and 24v battery banks. The display is actually the reason many people buy/bought the 3048 and 3024, so it's something that I never thought of eliminating on those models. An option for black enclosure on the 3048 is definitely a possibility, which I may explore on the next production run. Stainless is also an option.
