Roof AC Question

I have 2000 tioga class c, I always plug into same household 20 amp when we are home. Its 3 days before our trip and the ac breaker is suddenly tripping. Its been on allday while we cleaning but roun 230 it tripped. same yesterday..granted I am in Arizona and its super hot out but don't remember ever having this problem before.(I searched forum couldn't find the answer) Thanks
  • Keep in mind that the voltage at that breaker you've always plugged in to can significantly change for a number of reasons, most of them due to variables in your residential distribution system. Also breakers have a service life. They tend to trip easier at the end of their useful lifespan.

Just throwing some possible factors out there.
  • The 120V AC voltage going low due to all the demand cause it's hot.
    Lower voltage=higher amp draw

Your A/C Unit circuit breaker getting weak

Your A/C Unit circuit breaker wiring is not tight.....higher resistance---heat builds up---breaker trips

Your A/C Unit fan and coils (evap & condenser) are dirty...maybe even air return filter.....dirty unit higher amp draw
  • Ac takes 12.5 amps. Convertor take 3/6 amps refer 3 amps 20 amp breaker good for 16 amps continuous per National electrical code. Then heat also helps trip it. I guess thats why they put in a 30 amp service. Don't feel bad, I tried the same thing, ac, water heater and convertor. TRIP. Back to gas waterheater.and refer.
  • The breaker in the camper or the house? I would say that your AC may need cleaned that will make a big difference. If that doesnt work check the breaker.
