Roof A/C

My roof a/c worked fine on my trailer up until about a month ago. Now when I turn it on it runs constantly no matter where I set the thermostat. Also, before it went on the fritz condensationused to drip off the roof. No longer. Any ideas ?

The lack of condensation suggests the Compressor is not Compressing or another issue with the cooling system.

NOTE: one BIG issue is the evaporator.. Last spring I parked in the area of Cottenwoods.. and very quickly my ACs failed. a quick trip topside and a bit of cleanign and they were 100 (actually 111% but that's a much longer story) percent again

Cotton wood "Cotton" is not the only condenser clogger.

But Running constantly suggests FAN MODE is set to High/Low (If the compressor is not running) Which is how I set my A/Cs for noise reasons.

Or a short on a T-Stat line (not likely but not impossible)
  • You just need to systematically troubleshoot. It's either the thermostat or control board, but we need a make, model and type of thermostat to give any meaningful help.
  • Is the camper cooling down to set temperature? If not there is a chance the cooling coil is frosted up due to being dirty or dirty air filter. The air could feel relatively cold, but you may feel reduced airflow.

It is blowing cold but will not shut down.

Sounds like the A/C itself is fine. I would suspect the thermostat.
  • Does it blow cold, compressor running, or just room temp, fan running.
