No experience, I told you... Set screw is simple, you drive it in and it stays in. Crimp connectors-reducers work well only if you crimp them well, and doing shrink-tubing on the roof without any 120V to plug the blower is a pain too.
I could probably wrap the split-bolt or splicer-reducer in a rubber tape and leave it like this, without box, but then there is UV and possible water ingress - so here comes the box.
