Rv oven won't light

I have a magic chef stove. The top burners light fine but oven won't light. Most forums suggest to turn to pilot light then push in. My knob does not push in. I have turned the knob to pilot light and held light but no luck.

Did you see "Announcement : ★★READ BEFORE POSTING HERE★★" at the top?

  • What model and vintage of oven? There are some variations in designs. Not all have a thermocouple to detect the pilot flame, and if yours don't then it won't have to have the knob held in when lighting it. Typically on those sorts of ovens the pilot flame is very, very tiny when the thermostat isn't calling for heat (and it grows when heat is required).

I would guess that the pilot burner may be clogged or perhaps the thermostatic valve is malfunctioning.
  • try taking the knob off and putting a little piece of gum wrapper into it and then put the knob back on. it worked for me .
  • Depends on the model - many older models don't have auto light/sparker so you turn the knob to pilot and then have to manually light the pilot.
  • Beoken knob? There is a detent for pilot. But I have had luck turning the knob to 250, push in and light.
