RV propane tank replacement

Have a 2000 Class A motor home whose propane tank exterior bottom is very rusted. I assume the proper thing to do is replace it. Unfortunately, the tank is fairly full. Can RV dealers or propane companies pump the propane into another tank while the original tank is being replaced? Looking for a way to scavenge and restore the propane to the new tank.

  • Very rusty is subjective.....

Scrap it, sandblast it, wire brush it, wire wheel it......clean it and repaint.

Rarely is it anything more then surface rust.

    How many gallons in tank?

Transferring can be done if you have a 'liquid port' so propane can be pumped.
Transferring vapor is more difficult process.
