you might want to try out a wordpress blog site too. wordpress simplifies most of the html code behind the scenes. You can set it up with a blog format to make a blog post for new articles, and also to do static pages. Lots of built in features for photo galleries, tagging posts in categories and dates, letting people make comments on the bottom of the posts, etc.
