Yay, I'm smarter than an EE and an RV salesperson!:W
I would say that electric fridges aren't for everyone and the absorption fridges will fit more camping styles but there's no absolutes about it.
I was in a position to either buy a new absorption unit or electric and went for the latter. I use a small dorm style fridge since that works well for me and is easier to power. If I saw the need for a bigger box, I'd upgrade with another module and maybe raise my battery capacity. The newer electric fridges use considerably less power than those of 5 yrs. ago. The 12V models are very efficient but size is somewhat limited and the price is high.
