Ryobi 2200 generator questions

Hi anyone have experience with this generator?

The manual says you have to ground this generator by sticking a pole 8 feet into the ground!! Well I camp in places where you can't even get a tent stake in the ground, much less an 8' pole.
Plus I've never seen any other camper ground their generator.
And I can't imagine any campground owner being thrilled with me digging an 8' hole in their ground.
And as a single female camper not sure I even could.
Any experience with this.

Also, it doesn't have a 30 amp receptable, only the standard 115 V/20 amp. I have an adapter, but what if I decide to get another one and go parallel? I know other people have done it with these units and their campers. How are they hooking up their campers to the generators? I called the manufacturer and of course no help there.

Any ideas?
  • Just plug it in and use it
don't leave it it outside running in the rain
use "common sense" about safety and you will be ok

Nobody drives a ground rod for camping
that is an OSHA regulation regarding WORK
the history goes back to heavy generator trailers used in emg situations

the MGF put the "lawyer speak" in the manual to protect the company from people that do stupid things
  • Does it need covered when raining .. and if so with what ?
  • Ground rod isn't needed, most portable generator manuals have similar wording.

Sit it under a table. If not the picnic table, a small folding table we carry.
