Satellite only works connected directly to DVR

I have a Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite. All of a sudden it will only work when connected directly to the DirecTV DVR. It will search and search but says it finds no satellite (signal strength...

My bad. I meant I have not changed any of the connections since the satellite last worked, and it has worked that way for 2 years.
