Satellite only works connected directly to DVR

I have a Winegard Carryout Portable Satellite. All of a sudden it will only work when connected directly to the DirecTV DVR. It will search and search but says it finds no satellite (signal strength...

Will do! Unfortunately, multimeter bit the dust and new one on order! In the meantime, I am running coax through bedroom window from satellite to DVR. Thank you.
