satellite reception in Key West Florida

I have been reading about the Winegard SK 1000 and it says that it does not pick up the Eastern Arc so if I go to Florida down to Key West in my going to get satellite reception with this antenna
  • Locals can always be an issue with a Trav'ler and the East Coast. Some locals are not available at all on the WA and some locals are available but only in SD. Glad I have DirecTV!
  • However, if you're looking to get your locals from the satellite, better check which satellite carries the local spot beam for Miami.

If you want to get the Miami OTA from Key West, better invest in a good amplified antenna system (e.g., Sensar IV) plus the Sensar Pro additional preamp.
  • Only 129 should be at issue if there was an issue at all. You should not have a problem with 110 or 119 and the Trav'ler will still lock as long as you can get 119.
  • I got good reception there on my Dish tailgater 2 years ago. That is the western sats. The only OTA was poor & in Spanish, probably from CUBA.
  • Don't hold your breath, you won't be going down there any time soon unless it's to help clean the place up.
  • The Dish western arc is at about a 40 degree elevation in Key West. I'd expect your Trav'ler would have no problem hitting it from there.
