there will need to be holes in the roof to fasten the unit down, bolts/screws/etc.? I would use standard caulking/sealing material under the unit at the holes, not scotch tape. to avoid putting an extra hole in the roof lots of folks here have run cable down thru vents, etc. people have used PVC piping to protect runs of cable to these vents.
