I have to wonder, why all the concern about the quality of electricity when camping, but throw caution to the wind about the sticks and bricks house?
Granted, the quality of the pedestal at a RV park is a variable, but the source of the electricity is from an electric company, too. Seems to me if one feels the need to protect their RV, they should have the same need in their house where they probably have more electronics.
I agree completely. I full time and use my PT50C 365 days per year even at my home base. My home base is a lot in a residential subdivision with no other RV's even close to me. Nothing but S&B's. A couple of years ago my power was shut off at 3:00am. I went out and looked at the PT50C and it showed high voltage was the reason. I called the power company and they sent a lineman out to check. He showed voltage at 133'ish. The PT50C shuts you off at anything above 132. I had turned off the power at the main breaker box waiting for the repair so no damage to my rig. They ended up replacing the transformer for my neighborhood. None of my neighbors even knew there was a problem, but my closest neighbor said he had several light bulbs burn out at this time.
