Sears and Penney's were always the go-to stores for families in the Midwest and Lake States. It was where mom took you to get your Easter best or your back to school clothes. As a kid, many of my dress shirts and pants actually were Sears brand and had the Sears label in them. And Dad (and you when you got older) bought your hand and power tools from Sears. Although I confess that I have a few screwdrivers that say JC Penney on them from back when Penney's also sold tools. Our Washers, Dryers, Stoves and Dishwashers were always Kenmores. And the Sears service and warranty was as good as gold.
But sadly no more. My daughter just bought a Kenmore washing machine from them. It failed after two wash cycles. When she called them up, they refused to come to the house to fix it and told her "just bring it back in and we'll swap it for a new one." She did that and the 2nd machine failed in the exact same way after about 5 washloads. She took it back and bought a Samsung instead. Both their product and especially their service and attitude was horrible.
Agree Sears used to be a go to place. I started my tool collection a tool or tw at a time with my Sears credit card(the first one I ever got),
However, Kenmore appliances are not made by Sears. They're rebranded from other manufacturers, including Samsung.
