The company announced "We may not be able to stay in business" heard on Wall Street. Their stock is crumbling. Time to pause and reconsider major auto accessory purchases as warranty issues are at stake.

  • Sears has been an iconic brand all my 71 years selling most anything and everything you would ever need. I even used to order carbureator rebuild kits for my various cars/trucks from their catalog back in the 60's. Now the Craftsman brand is sold and Kenmore and DieHard brands are being offered for sale. Times they are a changing.
  • no guys, Kmart bought them. Kmart fwas in chapter 11 and they bought sears and that was the start of sears real down fall, Kmart drug sears down with it.
  • Actually Kmart bought Sears in 2004. The result was a new company called Sears Holdings. This resulted in the quality of Sears merchandise to go down and the results are now coming home to roost.
For good or bad all of the Big retail/Mall anchor type stores are in trouble. Sears and Penney are the ones we hear the most about but Macy, Nordstrom and others are also struggling.

It wasn't Sears that bought Kmart, it was the other way around. Kmart, having just emerged from bankruptcy, thought buying anther dying dept store would result in massive growth potential for both. After sealing the deal, they changed their name to Sears Holdings. It's only result has been to ruin what was left of Sears, and to loose money hand over fist ever since. It's stupid, and disgusting that an American icon like Sears could be mismanaged so thoroughly.

  • When someone, no matter who they are forget where they came from the end in only a matter of time.

Pennys is only a fraction of what it once was, and does not even look like the same place inside , at least here in PA .

They just announced that the 3 local stores to me are all closing.. They re part of the 138 just announced

Often true, but when the CEO announces he has doubts that company is going to survive, then it is time to take notice.

BTW they sold the Craftsman brand to Stanley.
